St. Veronica's Chapel

Fall 2001

Procession to the chapel of Santa Veronica

There were nine of us along with statues of St. Veronica and Jesus packed into a station wagon  as we headed for villages beyond Ayacucho located high in the Andes mountains of Peru.
We assisted financially in restoring this chapel after it was destroyed by the terrorists in the nineties and now it is ready to be dedicated as the chapel of St. Veronica, who courageously stepped out from the crowd and lovingly wiped the face of Jesus on that first Good Friday.

St. Maurice Building Supply

Mission Possible is making plans for setting up a cement block factory in Chimbote.  Presently six lots of land have been purchased in Chimbote and equipment for molding cement blocks and bricks has been purchased.  The next step will be drilling a well and putting a wall around the property.
The project is a memorial to Father Maurice Mueller who was an outstanding priest in the diocese  of Fargo, North Dakota for 51 years until God called him home in 1999.  Father Mueller was a brother of Ralph Mueller of Mission Possible and the Pastor of Fr. Jack Davis who worked as his assistant the first 5 years of his priesthood.  Father Davis has worked as a missionary priest in Chimbote for many years and the small factory will be located in the poorest part of his parish.
The purpose is to aid the poor of Chimbote in replacing estera houses with cement and at the same time providing jobs.

These are the special statues we took with us to the mountains to present  to St. Veronica's chapel. The people were happy and filled the air with songs.
