MP Projects Continue to Help the Poor

Fall 2008

Food is arriving for over 300 Mission Possible foster families.  Two cart loads of several varieties of beans, rice, macoroni, canned tuna, cooking oil, oatmeal, canned milk, sugar and soap will be distributed to those in need.   All the foster children and their families are very grateful to their foster parents  and others who support the food donations in these difficult times.   Veronica hates going shopping but when it comes to shopping for food for the poor she is able to negotiate  a discounted price.
There is a constant migration of people from the mountains to the coastal cities of Lima and Chimbote.  They come looking for work, but there is almost no work to be found.  In the mountains they grow their own food but in the cities they  have nothing to eat.
You may wonder how we get all this work done.  Well it is because this year we have had more Peruvian volunteers then ever before.  We thank God for each of them and for each of you who generously contribute  to all these projects

St. Thomas Church /School Project

Thanks to the good people who helped us install the window  guards and doors.  We hope to get the building painted next.
Presently we are using old make-shift pews and benches but as funds become available we will be building  desks for the children in grades one through six.  The Sister who teaches there is very happy to have a television and thirty two video tapes as teaching aids
The building is being used as a school house on weekdays and as a community hall and church on weekends.
