KARINA IS WITH US

Spring 2003

Karina is a beautiful 21 year old girl who has the misfortune of being born without hands and feet.  Her hope is to return to her family in Trujillo in July, standing tall - and walking.  Her family includes her parents, two sisters and one brother.  She keeps in daily contact with her family with e-mail.  She has learned to use the keyboard by holding a pencil between her two wrists and pushes the keys with the eraser end of the pencil.
We brought 17 children and young people with deformities to our Mission Center in Lima last September.  Dr. Larry Arnold's group from "Small world Foundation"  of Fort Lauderdale, Florida interviewed each one of them.  Their conclusion was that the one they could help the most is Karina.
Veronica has worked hard to make all the arrangements including her passport and visa, airline tickets, permission from her parents, and permission from her language school, to come to Florida for this miracle.
With the help of Dr. Arnold and Dr. Mills, she is scheduled for surgery on both legs in April at Holy Cross Hospital.  This is to prepare her for later fitting of prosthesis for both legs.
We ask your prayers for Karina that all will go well and that she will stand tall.

St. Maurice Church Dedication Set For  September 22nd

Fr. Umberto and the construction crew have done a marvelous job of advancing the work of  building the church of St. Maurice as you can see in these pictures.
Many of our supporters have known and admired Fr. Maurice Mueller during his 51 years as a dedicated priest.  We invite whoever would like to honor him, by coming to Peru for the dedication of St. Maurice church on September 22nd, the feast day of St. Maurice.  If you plan to come please advise us as soon as possible so that we can plan for accommodations with us at Mission Possible.
Mission Possible is building St. Maurice Church in a very poor area of Peru, about an hours drive from our mission center in Lima as a memorial to the late Fr. Maurice Mueller of Fargo, North Dakota.
